Aftercare Advice
I would like to thank you for your custom and I hope that you are happy with your new nail enhancements.
I aim to provide a high level of customer care during and in between your treatments, like everything your nails require special care and attention.
“Treat your nails like jewels, not tools!!”
Treat your nails with respect and all you should see is the growth in your natural nail. However, Gelish is NOT indestructible so be kind to your nails and they’ll be kind to you. The longevity of your Gelish Nails will depend on individual lifestyle and aftercare.
To enjoy your Gelish nails for as long as possible please read and follow this after care advice
Apply cuticle oil twice daily (minimum) – this is important and will keep your nails supple, healthy, moisturised, flexible and nourished underneath. Make sure you run it all around your cuticle and onto the nails itself even if you have nude, polished, or Gelish.
Avoid intense heat (sunbeds/sauna) within the first 24 hours of application if possible – this can cause heat spikes and colour fading
Wear rubber gloves whilst doing household jobs/cleaning/gardening etc – certain chemicals can cause lifting and discolouration
Please do not bite, pick, cut or file at your nails as this will cause the Gelish to become weak and will damage your own nails. In the unlikely event that your Gelish has peeled or chipped, please make an appointment to see me a.s.a.p. so I can fix it. Peeling or picking will more likely remove a couple of layers of nail with it too. Please note that all repairs are chargeable.
Avoid hand creams containing lanolin as these may cause the product to lift.
If you are going on holiday please be careful when using sun tan oils/lotions and insect repellent solutions. Always wash your hands, nails and cuticles carefully after applying sun cream and self tanning lotions. Some makes of sun cream contain ingredients which if left, will affect your Gelish colour possibly making it fade. Self tanning lotion could also discolour your polish
If you wish to remove your Gelish nails, please make an appointment for safe removal as you could damage your natural nails if you try to do them yourself. If you wish to remove them yourself, then make sure you use pure acetone and don’t force the Gelish off until it’s ready. Home removal can take longer than when I do it – so make a cuppa and be patient.
Do not miss your regular maintenance appointments to ensure your nails stay looking at their best.
